About this sight

The Comana Monastery was established by Vlad Tepes in 1461 as a monastery-citadel, on an island in the marshes, reachable over a wood platform. Initially made of wood, it was remade in 1588 by Radu Serban. Due to its rich estate, the Comana Monastery was one of the largest religious centres in the country during the reign of Matei Basarab.
