The Iron Gates Natural park is the largest natural park of Romania. It includes several botanic, forestry and combined natural reserves. The Park may become the second biosphere reserve in Romania, after the Danube Delta, if all UNESCO requirements are met. This site stands out through its luxuriant biodiversity, which ensured the national and international recognition of this protected area. It is the place where the Danube forms its longest defile and most spectacular gorges. Numerous river cruises depart every day from a small bay located by the statue of Decebal.
