Gallery

About this sight

The monastery is devoted to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel and was built by Dragomir of Plaviceni, a relative and close official of the ruler Matei Basarab. The beautiful engraving, remaining intact on site, shows that construction works were completed on May 2, 1648. The monastery is located in a wonderful natural setting, in the Olt lowlands, among imposing forests. During its functioning time, the Monastery was one of the greatest abbeys in Romania.
