About this sight

The Maglavit Monastery is a place related to the name of Petrache Lupu, the illiterate shepherd who said he met God in the 1930s. The church was built in 1936, as an initiative of religious people, in memory of the Lupu’s “miracle”. The Maglavit Monastery was dismantled by the communists and re-established in 1990. Currently, it is a nun monastery and tens of thousands of people come as pilgrims every year.
