The Baniei House is the oldest civil building in Craiova, a symbol of medieval architecture. It was erected by the Craiovesti boyars at the end of the 15th century. As of 1966, the Ethnography Department of the Oltenia Museum operates here, with an inestimable heritage including more than 9,000 items in collections.
