According to some sources, the archaeological site of Cioroiu Nou is designed during the second century as AQUAE; according to others, it is designed as MALVA, the capital of Dacia Malvensis. Archaeological excavations revealed a castrum and thermae. Research has shown that the defence system of the Cioroiu Nou settlement was complex.. The site is included on the list of historical monuments with a triple significance – two of national focus and one of local focus.
