This religious establishment is a medieval architectural complex of an impressive size. It is perhaps the most important historical monument in Calarasi. The Negoesti Monastery was founded in 1649 by Matei Basarab and his wife Elina. The architectural complex includes the “St. Michael and Gabriel” Church, the bell tower, cells and the mansion.
