About this sight

Welcome to the Ethnographic Museum “Danube Fishing and Boat Construction”!
The Ethnographic Museum “Danube Fishing and Boat Construction” was opened in Tutrakan because of the town’s centuries-old traditions in fishing and boat construction. It is no coincidence that the inhabitants of Tutrakan were famous as the best fishermen and boat masters in the lower Danube river stretch.
The museum is the only one of its kind not only in Bulgaria but also on the entire Balkan Peninsula. The exhibition is located in seven halls. The collections are arranged in chronological order and track the historical development of fishing gear and techniques from ancient times to the present day.
Here you can see original fishing gear, bone and copper rods, clay weights for fishing nets, various types of nets made from plant fibers, various pictures and document related to fishing.
Come and discover the Ethnographic Museum “Danube Fishing and Boat Construction”!
